Longwood Entertainment & Recreation
Longwood lies in central Florida, and is close enough to Orlando for residents to be within a short drive of all the amusements but far enough away not to be subjected to the disruption of tourism. It’s also close enough to the eastern seaboard that beach activities are popular in Longwood, and a relaxing day at the beach is one of the residents’ many favorite pastimes.
Each neighborhood in Longwood has its share of amenities and activities that are reserved for the residents, and there are also lots of opportunities in neighboring areas as well. Longwood bike trails, for example, go between areas and connect many of the neighborhoods. There is also lots of kayaking and canoeing, as well as other boating and water sports. If you like the arts, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra performs nearby on a regular basis, and Orlando is also home to high quality Opera and musical stage performance productions.
Longwood Arts
Longwood has it’s own arts and crafts festival, but there are also other suburbs of Orlando that offer them throughout the year as well. If you miss Longwood’s you can catch the Leesburg Arts Festival, a juried show that draws 140 of the world’s renowned artist for a prize of $3,000.
The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra offers more than 115 concerts and performances per year, so there is a great chance you’ll be able to catch several of them. They have drawn the services of some of the world’s best musicians as members and still others as solo feature performers. This season was the 14th anniversary of this fine organization. This year they will again perform in The Springs community for "The Springs Concert 2007: From Sea to Shining Sea.”
Longwood Outdoor Recreation
Longwood itself is proud of its many amenities, including the new master planned communities’ facilities like bike trails. golf courses, and clubhouse sports. The city itself maintains several of these facilities. Here is a list of the current parks and recreation areas in Longwood.

In addition, Wekiwa State Park is nearby, at the Wekiwa River headwater. This park offers beautiful views and an idea of what old Florida looked like when it was only Native American land. There are a number of picnic areas and 13 miles of hiking/biking trails as well. Those who enjoy water sports can swim, kayak, or canoe the area, and swim in the springs. Those who like to camp will find plenty of grounds to do so, and can also rent kayaks.
Longwood is certainly an excellent city in which to live. Consider buying homes in Longwood or any of the surrounding Florida communities.
